Author Guidelines
1. General Requirements
Manuscripts submitted to KOMETS must be original, scientifically sound, and relevant to the journal's aims and scope in computer science, information technology, electronics, electrical engineering, and related applied sciences. Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their submissions. All manuscripts are subject to editorial screening and plagiarism checking. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's requirements may be returned to the authors for revision before peer review.
2. Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word and follow the journal's prescribed template.
- Length: 3,000–4,000 words, including tables, figures, and references.
- Page length: 6–12 pages.
- Font: Times New Roman, 10 pt for the main text.
- Spacing: Single-spaced.
- Language: English, using clear and grammatically correct academic writing.
- Citation and reference style: IEEE.
- Minimum references: 25 relevant scholarly references.
Authors are encouraged to use a reference management application, such as Mendeley or Zotero, to maintain consistency and accuracy.
3. Title and Author Information
The title must be concise, informative, and contain no more than 14 words. It should be centered, bold, and formatted in Times New Roman, 14 pt, using title case. Author names must be written in full without academic degrees or abbreviations. Each author's institutional affiliation, department or research field, and email address must be provided. The corresponding author should be clearly identified.
4. Abstract and Keywords
The abstract must contain 100–250 words and summarize the research problem, objectives, methodology, principal findings, and contribution. It should be self-contained and should not include unnecessary citations. Authors must provide at least five keywords separated by semicolons. Keywords should represent the principal concepts, methods, applications, or technologies discussed in the manuscript.
5. Recommended Manuscript Structure
Research articles should generally contain the following sections:
- Introduction
- Research Methodology
- Results and Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgments, if applicable
- References
Additional subsections may be included when necessary to improve clarity and scientific organization.
Introduction
The introduction should explain the research background, problem statement, research gap, relevant previous studies, novelty, and objectives. Authors should establish the significance of the research and clearly state their contributions.
Research Methodology
The methodology should provide sufficient detail for readers to understand and reproduce the study. It should describe the research design, datasets or materials, instruments, system architecture or experimental setup, procedures, evaluation metrics, and data analysis methods, as applicable.
Results and Discussion
The results should be presented objectively and supported by appropriate tables, figures, graphs, or experimental evidence. The discussion should interpret the findings, compare them with previous studies, explain their significance, and identify relevant limitations. Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and referenced in the main text. Figures should be legible and of adequate resolution. All reused material must be properly attributed, and permission must be obtained where required.
Conclusion
The conclusion should directly address the research objectives and summarize the principal contributions. It should not merely repeat the abstract or reproduce the results section. Limitations and directions for future research may also be stated.
Acknowledgments
Authors may acknowledge research funding, institutional support, technical assistance, or other substantive contributions that do not qualify for authorship.
6. Citation and Reference Style
KOMETS uses the IEEE referencing style. In-text citations must be numbered consecutively in square brackets in the order in which they first appear, for example, [1], [2], and [3]. References must be numbered in the same order and listed at the end of the manuscript. Authors should provide complete bibliographic information and DOI links when available. Authors should prioritize relevant, recent, and credible scholarly sources. At least 85% of the references should be reputable journal articles, with verifiable DOIs where available.
7. Research Ethics and Originality
Authors must ensure that their research complies with applicable ethical standards, data protection requirements, and institutional regulations. Research involving human participants must include appropriate ethical approval or informed consent statements when required. All authors must approve the submitted manuscript. Any conflicts of interest, funding sources, and relevant contributions must be disclosed.
8. English Language Quality
Manuscripts must be written in clear, accurate academic English. Authors are strongly encouraged to obtain professional English-language editing or proofreading before submission.
9. Editorial and Peer Review Process
Manuscripts are evaluated for relevance to the journal's scope, originality, methodological rigor, technical quality, clarity, and contribution to the field. Submissions that pass the initial editorial screening may be sent for peer review in accordance with the journal's editorial policies. The final decision rests with the journal's editorial team based on the evaluation process and applicable publication policies.
ARTICLE TYPES
KOMETS accepts scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of computer science, information technology, electronics, electrical engineering, and related applied sciences. Authors must select the article type that best represents the purpose, methodology, and contribution of their submissions.
1. Original Research Article
Presents original theoretical, experimental, computational, or empirical research. The manuscript must identify a clear research problem, explain the methodology, report verifiable findings, and demonstrate its contribution to existing knowledge. Examples include algorithm development, machine learning, signal processing, electronic circuit design, computer networks, information systems, and applied engineering research.
2. Review Article
Provides a critical and systematic synthesis of existing research on a defined topic. The article should explain its literature search and selection procedures, organize and critically evaluate the available evidence, identify research gaps, and establish directions for future investigation. Systematic literature reviews and other clearly defined review methodologies are welcome when they fit the journal's scope.
3. Technical or Application Article
Describes the design, implementation, testing, or evaluation of a technical solution, software application, information system, electronic device, or engineering prototype. The manuscript must provide adequate technical detail and objective evaluation evidence.
4. Case Study Article
Examines a specific real-world implementation, organization, system, or technical problem in depth. The article should explain the case context, analytical approach, supporting evidence, findings, and practical or scientific implications.
5. Short Communication
Reports a concise but significant technical finding, preliminary result, or methodological improvement that warrants timely dissemination. The manuscript must demonstrate a clear contribution despite its limited scope. The journal may apply specific length and formatting requirements to this article type.
Article Type Selection
Authors must select the most appropriate article type during submission. Each manuscript must comply with the journal's general author guidelines and undergo the applicable editorial screening and peer review procedures. The acceptance of each article type is subject to KOMETS aims and scope and the journal's current editorial policies.
